I was worried about equipment handling such weather.
The scope and camera worked well, but tripod failed, started to shake a lot after few hours in the cold.
Also camera batteries drain much faster in the cold, but I had prepared for that with plenty of reserve batteries.

After such a long time, i finally had some clear weather, and cold too.

Fisrtly DAL59 out of London gatwick and at only 26,000ft!!!!!!! :)

Yes, but more south London area, over Gatwick. However I'm sure a different Kalitta Air passed over on UL9 airway which goes directly over London

Thanks, indeed, that must have been this one . In other words, I got the beast

Amazing pics, especially that Delta Boeing. I guess lower altitude also helped to get more detail and sharpness.

Winter is great for contrail photography: clear air and contrails usually form at lower altitude. On some cold days even turboprops flying on low FL200's make contrails.
The only problem in winter - COLD
