After three decades Lufthansa wants to give itself a new design - the current painting has been in use since 1988. The innovations will be presented at employee celebrations in Frankfurt and Munich on 7 February. Even the world-famous Crane - designed almost exactly 100 years ago by Otto Firle - is said to be slightly different. The font of the brand name is also overtaken. According to Lufthansa, the fuselage of the aircraft will carry more blue. But it is not only the exterior painting of the 320 machines that is to change, there will also be minor adjustments inside the cabin. The crane is depicted on hundreds of objects on board the Lufthansa jets. A Boeing 747-8 in Rome is currently being designed in the new colours. It takes longer than a week to repaint a jumbo jet, which is why there will be a design mix at the airports in the next few months. The changes are to be seen later on the boarding platforms. The new corporate design will also affect the machines of the cargo subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo. Lufthansa's industrial design is one of the best-known in the world. Only for the third time after its re-foundation in 1955 is the painting fundamentally changed.
